Mankind’s quest for freedom.

To fully understand our struggle against oppression and how we may find the path to freedom from slavery, we need to back track to the history of the nation of Israel to determine what lead to the house of Israel’s captivity and dispersion into the nations of the world. Very few of the descendants of Abraham, through Isaac and Jacob from the house of Israel are aware that our problems started with King David’s son Solomon, who became king after his father David.

King Solomon was one of the wisest men who ever lived on the earth and the reason for his wisdom was that instead of asking YHVH for riches when YHVH appeared to Him in a dream before he became king, he specifically ask that YHVH give him an extra portion of wisdom to rule the commonwealth of Israel consisting of both houses of Israel, as witnessed in 1 Kings 3: 7 – 14, as follows: “And now, O YHVH my Elohim, Thou hast made Thy servant king in place of my father David, yet I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. (8) And Thy servant is in the midst of Thy people which Thou hast chosen, a great people who cannot be numbered or counted for multitude. (9) So give Thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Thine? (10) And it was pleasing in the sight of YHVH that Solomon had asked this thing. (11) And Elohim said to him, ‘Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice, (12) behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you. (13) And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days. (14)And if you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will prolong your days.’”

Later after King Solomon built a Temple for Elohim’s people to worship Him in, YHVH again spoke to Solomon in 1 Kings 9: 3 – 9, saying: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built by putting My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. (4) And as for you, if you will walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you and will keep My statutes and My ordinances. (5) then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, just as I promised to your father David, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ (6) But if you or your sons shall indeed turn away from following Me, and shall not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you and shall go and serve other gods and worship them, (7) then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them, and the house which I have consecrated for My name, I will cast out of My sight. So Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. (8) And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by will be astonished and hiss and say, ‘Why has YHVH done thus to this land and to this house?’(9) And they will say, ‘Because they forsook YHVH their Elohim, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them, therefore YHVH has brought all this adversity on them.’”From Scriptural history about King Solomon’s reign it is clear that he failed YHVH because of the many wives he married who eventually turned his heart away from serving YHVH and as a result we see from 1 Kings 11: 3 –13 how YHVH planned to punish Solomon for his disobedience, in this way:‘And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, and his wivesturned his heart away.(4) For it came about when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; and his heart was not wholly devoted to YHVH his Elohim, as the heart of David his father had been. (5) For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians and after Milcom the detestable idol of the Ammonites.(6) And Solomon did what was evil in the sight of YHVH, and did not follow YHVH fully, as David his father had done. (7) Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable idol of Moab, on the mountain which is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the detestable idol of the sons of Ammon. (8) Thus also he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. (9)Now YHVH was angry with Solomon because his heart was turned away from YHVH, the Elohim of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, (10) and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did notobserve what YHVH had commanded.  (11) So YHVH said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant. (12) Nevertheless I will not do it in your days for the sake of your father David, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. (13)However, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen.”

Later after the house of Israel consisting of ten tribes separated from the house of Judah during the time Jeroboam was king over the house of Israel, the Assyrians took them captive during 721 - 718 and took the majority with them into Europe.  Whilst in Europe the lost sheep of the house of Israel was initially hidden amongst the people of Greece where they were later absorbed by Rome and over time they lost their language, culture and religion and became Christianized. Because the house of Israel came to believe that the Tanach has been replaced by the so-called ‘New Testament’, very few of them know the reason why YHVH eventually scattered them into the world because of idolatry[1]. The tragic lesson of ancient Israel is an example of mankind’s fundamental problem. Even though Elohim gave them physical freedom and protection, they never lost their spiritual blindness, selfishness and the lust that enslaved their minds in Egypt. The same self-destructive tendency has plagued mankind since the fall of man and their removal from the Garden of Eden. The house of Israelinsisted on choosing gods of their own design and writing their own rules ever since YHVH split the commonwealth of Israel into two kingdoms. Israel, like the rest of mankind enslaved itself when they rejected Elohim’s teachings and way of life.By the year 587 BCE Elohim expelled both the house of Israel and the house of Judah from the Promised Land and took them into captivity for rejecting Him and His way of freedom. The house of Judah returned to the Promised Land 70 years after their captivity by king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, but the house of Israel remained in captivity and is totally unaware of their identity, except for the ones whom YHVH has been calling to come out of the churches of the world during the past century. Ever since Ezra and Nehemiah’s return from the house of Judah’s captivity, because they neglected to keep the land Sabbath every seven years, YHVH ensured that they remain Torah observant in order to preserve the oracles that He gave to both houses at Mount Sinai. In addition, YHVH planned for His word through whom He created the world to become flesh as the Son of Man, to ensure that the remnant of the house of Israel whom YHVH is busy calling out of Churchianity will have a kinsman redeemer from the only tribe who remained loyal to Him, to pay the penalty for our transgressing of His Torah, but also to buy back the piece of property we lost in the Promised Land because of idolatry.Since, Elohim knows the end from the beginning this was all in accordance with the promise He made with our fathers in the faith Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Even though YHVH blinded the eyes of the house of Judah to Yahshua the Messiah, who came specifically to bring the lost sheep of the house of Israel back, once the fullness of the house of Israel who came to believe that they are Gentiles (including a number of real Gentiles) have been called, all Israel from both houses will be saved as testified in Romans 11: 25 - 29.

During their time in captivity the house of Israel started worshipping the host of heaven, as YHVH warned them would happen in Deuteronomy 4: 19, saying:“And beware, lets you lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which YHVH your Elohim has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.”Despite Elohim’s warningsthe house of Israel continuedwith their idolatry, as witnessed in Acts 7: 37 - 43, as follows:  “This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘ELOHIM SHALL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN.’  (38) This is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness together with the angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai, and who was with our fathers; and he received living oracles to pass on to you. (39) And our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but repudiated (or rejected) him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt, (40) SAYING TO AARON, ‘ MAKE FOR US GODS WHO WILL GO BEFORE US; FOR THIS MOSES WHO LED US OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT –WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.’ (41) And at that time they made a calf and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in the works of their hands. (42) But Elohim turned away and delivered them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘IT WAS NOT TO ME THAT YOU OFFERED VICTIMS AND SACRIFICES FORTY YEARS IN THE  WILDERNESS, WAS IT, O HOUSE OF ISRAEL?  (43) YOU ALSO TOOK ALONG THE TABERNACLE OF MOLOCH AND THE STAR OF THE GOD ROMPHA, THE IMAGES WHICH YOU MADE TO WORSHIP THEM. I ALSO WILL REMOVE YOU BEYOND BABYLON.’” The account of what happened to ancient Israel is pertinent to our time. Nevertheless the past hundred years have been more barbaric than the days of Moses. Only 75 years ago Hitler was possessed with satanic arrogance even worse than Pharaoh and hepushed the world into the deadliest, most destructive war in human history. He almost succeeded in accomplishing his intention of exterminating all Jews in Europe. During the last 75 years mankind showed that the slaughter of six million Jews and thousands of Cambodians, Ugandans, Rwandans, Chinese, Syrians, white farmers in Zimbabwe, and South Africa that brutality and bloodthirstiness are alive and thriving in our so-called modern world. These people endure the same Scriptural account of oppression that ancient Israel endured.  As a modern society, we pride ourselves on our enlightenment compared to the religion of the ancient Egyptians. Most of us insist that we no longer worship insects, stars, planets, animals and rivers like they did, but instead the objects of our worship and affection, have become sensual pleasures, endless parties, modern gadgets, money and materialism. These created things are again enslaving our minds and cultures as our ancient forebears were enslaved to their pagan gods.

Both Moses and Yahshua the Messiah advocated Elohim’s way of life. In fact Yahshua personified Elohim’s way – in that He was our perfect example of how to follow Elohim’s way of life.  We read accordingly about Yahshua from Colossians 1: 17 – 23, in this way: ‘And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (18) He is also head of the body, the congregation; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. (19) For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness (of Elohim) to dwell in Him[2], (20) and through Him, to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. (21) And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, (22) yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— (23) if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Shaul, was made a minister.’ Yahshua offered to live in us (in John 14: 23[3]), thus empowering us to live according to Torah that shows us the true way to freedom, as He said to the Jews who believed Him in John 8: 31 & 32: “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; (32) and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make your free.” This is the perfect righteous character of Elohim, that Elohim gave us to follow and ultimately to conform to.

Despite the objections of modern Christianity, Elohim used Moses to define righteous behavior for all time.  Yahshua made a prerequisite to faith in Him and belief in the Torah that Moses wrote in John 5: 46 &47, saying: “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote of Me. (47) But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”  Rav Yaa’cov, Yahshua’s half-brother, spoke of the Torah saying in James 1: 25, ‘But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.’  In fact even Rav Shaul, the person many say, was against Torah, states in Romans 7: 12 – 14, ‘So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. (13) Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. (14) For we know that the Law is spiritual; but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.’ Like Elohim, His Torah is spiritual in nature, but we are not. It is for this reason that we are not able to fully obey Elohim and His Torah – our selfish sinful nature is even now holding us captive, as Rav Shaul further wrote in Romans 7: 21 – 23, saying: ‘I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wishes to do good. (22) For I joyfully concur with the law of Elohim in the inner man, (23) but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.’ But thanks be to YHVH the Elohim of Israel who sent Yahshua our Messiah specifically to bring a remnant of the lost ten tribes back to the covenant we made with YHVH at Mount Sinai so that the Torah might be fulfilled in us as Rav Shaul wrote further in Romans 8: 1 – 4, saying: ‘There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Yahshua. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yahshua has set you free from the law of sin and of death(meaning the judgements due to us due to our breaking of the Law).(3) For what the Law could not do weak as it was through the flesh, Elohim did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh.(4) In order that the requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.’

However, enslaved mankind is doomed to death like our ancient forebears were doomed to death in Egypt. Satan who has deceived the whole world has ensnared the house of Israel by keeping us captive in Rome (otherwise known as Esau) for almost 1800 years, as witnessed in Revelation 12: 9, in this way: ‘And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.’ Our modern world’s amazing technical and scientific progress together with widespread prosperity which we could not afford in recent decades, masked enormous suffering in the world. Today’s mixture of debilitating misery and optimistic progress deceive us the same way ancient Israel was in Egypt. However, it is not hidden from YHVH our Elohim, as Rav Shaul warned aptly in Galatians 6: 7 – 8, saying: ‘Do not be deceived, Elohim is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. (8) For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life.’  Our world is not much different from what ancient Egypt was like – although it displayed a dazzling veneer, it was corrupt to the core.  Finally Egypt experienced the consequences of their corruption when YHVH the Elohim of Israel virtually destroyed its society to free His people from enslavement. The Egyptian people ultimately reaped the punishment due to their actions. Even so, human beings are very shortsighted and because we do not personally and immediately feel the consequences of our actions, we believe that we can continue doing as we please, as long as we want. We do not realize how such actions and thinking leads us to enslavement and its consequences. Let’s at this point consider the results of mankind’s actions and choices. In fact our actions and choices are again enslaving us to suffering. By rebelling against Elohim’s law and purpose for marriage, most of the western world is enslaved by a lack of self-control, fornication, adultery, impurity, immorality and sensuality. This leads to mental depression, suicide, teenage pregnancies, and drug abuse. Slavery to deceptive pleasures, drunken orgies (some call parties) and promiscuity has led to the abortion of millions of babies inmostly white middle class families over the past 50 years, and especially since abortion has been legalized in the western world. For many years the modern day Israelites have been killing its own firstborn children, similar to the way our ancient forebears offered their children to Moloch. The addiction to irresponsible sex and divorce is the leading cause of the world’s growing poverty among especially women and children. It is no secret that children brought up in homes headed by older siblings and single mothers are much more likely to engage in pre-marital sex and criminal behavior than those brought up in normal two-parent homes.

Sexually transmitted diseases make up for at least half of the communicable diseases in the world. Millions of people are infected with incurable genital diseases such as genital herpes, which cost taxpayers billions a year, resulting in higher tax and medical aid payments on an annual basis. There are millions of people infected with aids, which is spread through sexual promiscuity and thousands continue to contract the disease on a daily basis. Millions of people have died since aids became known during the early 1980’s. It is also costing taxpayers throughout the world millions of dollars to keep people who suffer from this up-to-now incurable disease. In addition, the illegal drug industry has become so massive that it isin fact generating billions of dollars in revenue for those who are involved in it, as well as for their governments. No wonder that the governments of the world are not doing much to deter this ever increasing problem. Drug abuse exacts an enormous financial toll on our society costing each and every citizen of the western world a fairly large portion of their annual income in medical costs, criminal activity and declines in productivity. The western world has millions of people affected by the curse of Noah, namely alcoholism and habit forming drug abuse. But even worse is the western world’s addiction to entertainment, violence, theft, gambling, illegitimate sexual acts that holds them captive. Prisons around the world cannot be built fast enough to house the ever increasing population of criminals. Because the death penalty has been abolished in most of the countries in the western world, the ever increasing prison population is costing more and more to manage and maintain. In addition billions of dollars are spent on police and law enforcement with no end in sight.  During the past fifty years people in the western world have also become addicted to gambling in various forms.  In a reversal of thrift and public morality, much of the people living in the western world hope to get something for nothing and because of this greed, more and more casinos and gambling resorts and state lotteries are established. Mankind’s carnal desires and motivations have imprisoned us to a blind array of lust and delusion, similar to the way the Egyptians held the Israelites captive. It is like Rav Shaul wrote in Romans 6: 16, saying: ‘Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?’

The only way out of our inevitable bondage to slavery and oppression of the evil in human nature, is through the death and life of Yahshua our Messiah, as Rav Shaul wrote in Romans 6: 5 – 7, saying:  ‘For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, (6) knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; (7)  for he who has died is freed from sin.’ Messiah explained that the way of life that Elohim gave to Israel under Moses is the way everyone should live. He told the young man who asked him what he should do to enter eternal life in Matthew 19: 16, saying to him in verse 17: “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”Elohim’s way of life is possible for us, because Messiah can dwell in us, giving us freedom, after repentance and immersion, from sin. This is when Elohim’s law is fulfilled in us, as explained in Romans 8: 3 & 4, in this way: ‘For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, Elohim did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,(4) in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.’Throughout history millions of human beings have lived and died in bondage. Whether in cruel slavery under harsh taskmasters; in downward pulls of their own sinful nature; or in captivity of false beliefs and Satan’s deceptions. It does not really matter what the yoke of mankind’s oppression is, the truth of Elohim’s word and His ways are the only way to loosen the bonds of the enslavement that leads to an abundant life.

It does not matter how heavy our burden is, Yahshua Messiah offers a way to lighten it, saying in Matthew 11: 28 – 30: Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. (30) For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.” Even so, many who misunderstood what Yahshua meant seek this rest by merely professing Yahshua’s name; calling Him Master and saying they love Him. However, we see from Luke 6: 46, where He said: “And why do you call Me, ‘Master, Master,’ and do not do what I say?” Yahshua adds in verse 47 – 49, saying: “Everyone who comes to Me, and hears My words, and acts upon them, I will show you whom he is like: (48) he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation upon the rock (meaning Yahshua); and when a flood rose the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. (49) But the one who has heard, and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house upon the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”Elohim reveals the way to freedom from the bonds of wickedness and relief from oppression and burdens by drawing near to Him, saying through the prophet Isaiah in chapter 58: 6 – 9, “Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke? (7) Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into the house(of YHVH); when you see the naked, to cover him; and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (8) Then your light will break out like the dawn, and your recovery will speedily spring forth; and your righteousness will go before you; the glory of YHVH will be your rear guard. (9) Then you will call, and YHVH will answer; you will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness.” At this time millions are slaves to sin, drug abuse, false religious beliefs, oppression, poverty, hunger and distress throughout the world.

We, who have been called out of the false Babylonian systems of the world, have the opportunity to do things Elohim’s way at this time. If we succeed in breaking free from the slavery of sin and overcome the pulls of the flesh, the world and Satan, we will rule with Yahshua when He returns one day soon, as He promised in Revelation 2: 26, saying: “And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, TO HIM I WILL GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS.” We see further from Isaiah 11: 4 - 10, that YHVH will set all the millions of people who are presently suffering free at His return, as follows: ‘But with righteousness He will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; and He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. (5) Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, and faithfulness the belt about His waist.  (6) And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them. (7) Also the cow and the bear will graze; their young will lie down together; and the lion will eat straw like the ox. (8) And the nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.  (9) They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of YHVH as the waters cover the sea.(10) Then it will come about  in that day that the nations will resort to the root of Jesse, who will stand as a signal for the peoples; and His resting place will be glorious.”

When Yahshua our Messiah returns to earth in the near future He is going to break every yoke of human bondage, freeing the commonwealth of Israel  and eventually all humanity from their self-imposed slavery, He will renew the covenant He made with Israelyears before and they will understand what it really means to be free under the Law of liberty, as Jeremiah wrote in Jeremiah 31: 31 – 33, in this way: “Behold, days are coming,” declares YHVH, “when I  will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, (32) not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares YHVH. (33) “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares YHVH, “I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.” Once the united nation of Israel has become the model nation that YHVH wanted them to be from the time He entered into the original covenant with them at Mount Sinai, the rest of mankind will follow their example, when they see the blessings and benefits available to those who keep Elohim’s commandments.  That will be when the Tabernacle of David will be reestablished as witnessed in Acts 15: 15 - 17, as follows: “And with this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written, (16) ‘AFTER THESE THINGS I WILL return, AND I WILL REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID WHICH HAS FALLEN, AND I WILL REBUILD ITS RUINS, AND I WILL RESTORE IT, (17)IN ORDER THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK YHVH, AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME (meaning the house of Israel).’”

We see a further prophecy in this regard from Micah 4: 2, in this way:‘And many nations will come and say, “Come and let us go up to the mountain (government) of YHVH and to the house of the Elohim of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For from Zion will go forth the law, even the word of YHVH from Jerusalem.”’ Those of us who heed (YHVH)’s call at this time will be part of the frontline to help usher in Elohim’s way of life, at Messiah’s return. At that time and even after the second resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgment all people will have the opportunity under Messiah’s direct leadership, to learn and understand Elohim’s will and way – and they will also be set free! Praise YHVH for ultimately setting mankind free from slavery!

[1] King Jerobaom the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite, Solomon’s servant, became king over the house of Israel after King Solomon and soon after he became king of the house of Israel. He changed the dates on which they kept the feast of Sukkot to the eighth month, instead of the seventh moth as it is kept in Judah, thus ensuring that the house of Israel did not return to King Rehoboam of Judah.
