Nazarene Israelite Two House Congregation of Port Elizabeth
It is time for the house of Israel to be united with the house of Judah 1
During the early part of the twentieth century there were religious groups, who started identifying some of the lost ten tribes of Israel. As time went on, the identity of the various nations making up the lost ten tribes became clearer. Today since the late 1990’s there are groups and even Jewish Rabbis in Israel who agree with and has in fact provided an even clearer opinion on the identity of the lost ten tribes. One source from Israel tells us that the descendants of the lost ten tribes are to be found throughout the world, but mainly amongst the so-called ‘Gentile’ peoples of Northwest Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The Jews in Israel and those in the Diaspora are mainly descended from the tribe of Judah. The early Israelites are proven to have migrated to the west and over many years formed the nations of France, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, The USA, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The most prominent tribes were Ephraim and Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph’s two sons, and are mainly to be found in the present day English-speaking nations; Reuben became the forefather of the French; Benjamin the forefather of Belgium; Zebulon the forefather of the Dutch; Asher gave rise to the Scots; Issachar the Swiss; Dan contributed to the Welsh and Irish and fathered the Danes and so on.
Now that it is commonly accepted that we have always been attached to the Scriptures, and especially to the original covenant made between YHVH and Abraham, we need to consider to again perform our part of the covenant, as agreed to by our father in the faith, Abraham. We have been beneficiaries of the many blessings of Abraham that he passed on to his son Isaac and then onto Jacob. Prior to discovering our identity, we were literally in a wilderness of confusion for more than 2500 years. Now that we are almost at the end of the period of captivity, lasting (390 times 7 years) 2730 years of aimless wandering as ‘Gentiles’ in the wilderness, it is time that those who were not circumcised in the wilderness, to consider honoring the contractual obligation of the covenant that YHVH made with Abraham and his descendants, readying ourselves to enter the promised (coming) kingdom of Elohim, at Yahshua’s return one day soon on the Feast of Trumpets. But, as members of the lost ten tribes of Israel who are returning to the covenant we made with Elohim, together with the house of Judah at Mount Sinai, some have no idea of Rabbinic laws and are afraid of losing newly found understanding and spiritual joy of Torah, if we should seek to join ourselves to Judah. This is as a result of our belief (be it real or imagined) that Judah would compel us to observe a large number of Rabbinic laws, when we do so. However, most returnees are unaware that Judah is not in the business of prescribing to others what to do. Other than with the Christian faith where most returning members of the lost ten tribes come from, Judaism is a non-proselytizing faith who will only teach those who request them to do so.
The house of Judah has historically been happy with their Gentile neighbors keeping the seven Noahide laws and is at this time getting used to increasing numbers of non-Jews wanting to obey the Torah commands, like most of us have been doing for a number of years. This is exactly the same with what we require of new believers who come out of the churches of the world, as is prescribed by Rav Yaa’cov in Acts 15: 19 – 21, saying: “Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning (or returning) to Elohim from among the Gentiles (those who are called by Elohim’s name as we see from verse 17, meaning members of the lost ten tribes), (20) but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. (21) For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues ever Sabbath.” We were scattered into the nations of the world and even though there is still some Israelite blood flowing in our veins, most of us have become partly Gentile or Gentile in the secondary sense. This is in agreement with what YHVH promised Jacob in Genesis 48: 19, where He told him that he would become the fullness (or a multitude) of nations (transliterated in Hebrew as melo-Hagoiim). Nevertheless, some of us have been keeping the annual and weekly Sabbaths specified in Leviticus 23 and have been eating ‘kosher’ food specified in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 and those males not circumcised as babies, have been circumcised medically during the past forty years, in addition not to eat meat and milk derivative products together. From studying the Scriptures we discovered that we are part of the Israelites whom YHVH scattered into the world, because of idolatry and as spoken about in Daniel 9: 7 and the first chapter of Hosea. As returnees we would like to start a process that will lead to our ‘conversion’, since we are in no way a new religion or replacement fad and would like to give Judah our assurance that they are dealing with normal sane people who are anti-missionary and have their best interest at heart. We have for instance been keeping both Chanukah and Purim at the times indicated on the Hebrew calendar for the past ten years and will continue to do so until Messiah comes to rule the commonwealth of Israel as the Kingdom of Elohim to be a light to the rest of the World for His Torah.
Even though we believe in a Messiah who came primarily to bring back the lost sheep of the house of Israel who were scattered into the nations of the world because of Idolatry, we do not believe in speaking to our Jewish Brothers about our Messiah, but want them to realize that in addition to bringing us back to Elohim and the covenant we made with Him, jointly with them at Mount Sinai, as also prophesied in Isaiah 49: 5 & 6, in this way: ‘And now says YHVH, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, in order that Israel might be gathered to Him (for I am honored in the sight of YHVH, and My Elohim is My strength), (6) He says, “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light to the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”’ We can therefore not be expected to deny our Messiah, who according to the Prophet Isaiah came specifically to reconcile the house of Israel with Elohim, but also with the house of Judah, so that YHVH will remarry us as we read from Jeremiah 31: 31 – 33, as follows: “Behold, days are coming,” declares YHVH, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, (32) not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares YHVH. (33) “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares YHVH, “I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.” It is clear from this portion of the Scriptures that Judah remained loyal to YHVH ever since He made the covenant with both houses of Israel at Mount Sinai and that he will only have to write His Torah on the hearts of the house of Israel at the time Messiah will usher in the Kingdom of Elohim in the near future.
We read a clear witness what is busy happening to the House of Israel whom Elohim is calling to return from their exile, where He scattered them, from a prophecy by Ezekiel in Ezekiel 36: 16 – 28, in this way: ‘Then the word of YHVH came to me saying, (17) “Son of man, when the house of Israel was living in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds; their way before me was like the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity. (18) Therefore, I poured out my wrath on them for the blood which they had shed on the land, because they had defiled it with their idols. (19) Also I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the lands. According to their ways and their deeds I judged them. (20) When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned My holy name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the people of YHVH; yet they have come out of His land. (21) But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went. (22) Therefore, say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says YHVH Elohim, “It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went. (23) And I will vindicate the holiness of My great name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am YHVH,” declares Adonai Elohim, “when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight. (24) For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you into your own land. (25) Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. (26) Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. (27) And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. (28) And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your Elohim.”’ Many of us who were immersed in Messiah’s name for the forgiveness of our sins have accepted Messiah as our Passover who died in our place for the past sins that we have committed and took the punishment due to us for our Torah breaking on Himself, but also to buy back the piece of land in the Promised Land which we lost because of idolatry, as our kinsman Redeemer.
Once Messiah arrives on Yom Teruah (or Rosh Hashanah as our Jewish Brothers refer to it) He will enter the Temple in Jerusalem, to save the tents of Judah first and they will accept Him as their Messiah, at the time when He comes to fight against the nations that come against Jerusalem, as we read from Zechariah 12: 7 – 10, as follows: YHVH also will save the tents of Judah first in order that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not be magnified above Judah. (8) In that day YHVH will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like Elohim, like the angel of YHVH before them. (9) And it will come about in that day that I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. (10) And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born. At that time He will become our shepherd and David will become our King, as witnessed from Ezekiel 37: 15 – 24, as follows: ‘The word of YHVH came again to me saying, (16) And you, son of man, take for yourself one stick and write on it, ‘For Judah and for the sons of Israel, his companions’; then take another stick and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and all the house of Israel, his companions.’ (17) Then join them for yourself one to another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. (18) And when the sons of your people speak to you saying, ‘Will you not declare to us what you mean by these?’ (19) say to them, ‘Thus says YHVH Elohim, “Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand.” (20) And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. (21) And say to them, ‘Thus says YHVH Elohim, “Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; (22) and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations, and they will no longer be divided into two kingdoms. (23) And they will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their Elohim. (24) And My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes, and observe them. (25) And they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they, and their sons, and their sons’ sons, forever; and David My servant shall be their prince forever. (26) And I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever. (27) My dwelling place also will be with them; and I will be their Elohim, and they will be My people. (28) And the nations will know that I am YHVH who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.’
A second witness comes from Jeremiah 23: 3 – 8, as follows: “Then I myself shall gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and shall bring them back to their pasture; and they will be fruitful and multiply. (4) I shall also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them: and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares YHVH. (5) Behold, the days are coming,” declares YHVH, “when I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. (6) In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, YHVH our righteousness. (7) Therefore behold, the days are coming,” declares YHVH, “when they will no longer say, ‘As YHVH lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ (8) but, ‘As YHVH lives, who brought up and led back the descendants of the household of Israel from the north land and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ Then they will live on their own soil.” Even though many returnees believe that when Messiah comes to rule the world from Jerusalem the Levitical Priesthood will come to an end. However, we read the contrary from Jeremiah 33: 20 – 22:, in this way: “Thus says YHVH, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day, and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, (21) then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers. (22) As the host of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.” We also read from Isaiah 66: 20 & 21 how YHVH is going to make Levites of some of the returnees, as follows: ‘“Then they shall bring all your brethren from all the nations as a grain offering to YHVH, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says YHVH, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of YHVH. (21) “I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites,” says YHVH.’ This is also in agreement with what Yochanan recorded in Revelation 20: 4 – 6, in this way: ‘And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Yahshua and because of the word of Elohim, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years. (5) The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. (6) Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of Elohim and of Messiah and will reign with Him for a thousand years.’
Most of us from the lost ten tribes who are returning to the covenant we made with Elohim at Mount Sinai, have come to the realization that if we truly want to know Elohim, we will have to grab hold of the tzitzit of Jews and that we should ask them to teach us about Elohim and His ways, as prophesied in Zechariah 8: 23, in this way: “Thus says YHVH of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that Elohim is with you.’” The term ten here definitely refers to the lost ten tribes who were scattered into the nations of the world. It is understood that the Talmud in Pesachim says that Elohim only scattered the nation of Israel for the purpose of gathering righteous converts. It needs to be understood, as Yair Davidiy and many other scholars have shown, the lost ten tribes of Israel did not end up as jungle primitives, but as dynamic, vital streams of dominant forces among the nations: ‘They were to be blessed; many millions would emerge from them; other people would be blessed by contact with them. They were to rule over other nations, become exceedingly prosperous and possess vast natural resources. Monarchs of several nations, ruling at one and the same time, were to emerge from them … each tribe had its distinctive qualities …these Israelites were to possess the gates of their enemies’ and the gates of those who hate them as per Genesis 24: 60.’ Those of us from the lost ten tribes, who have been striving to get to know YHVH and His Torah, are ready to return and seek YHVH our Elohim and serve Him with all our hearts, minds and souls. We are at this time prepared to accept King David as our King when YHVH restores his Tabernacle as before as witnessed in Amos 9: 11, as follows: “In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, and wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old.” We are fully prepared to join our Jewish brothers when the Temple of Elohim has been rebuild and with Elohim giving us a new Spirit, to serve Him with everything that is in us.
We ask our Jewish Brothers to lead us as we pray from ‘The Amidah’, saying: O YHVH, open our lips that our mouths may declare Your praise.

Psalm 80 was specifically written for returnees from the lost ten tribes as a prayer request for YHVH to come and save us from our present exile, as follows: ‘Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, Thou who dost lead Joseph like a flock: Thou who art enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth! (2) Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Thy power, and come to save us! (3) O Elohim, restore us, and cause Thy face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. (4) O YHVH Elohim of hosts, how long wilt Thou be angry with the prayer of Thy people? (5) Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and Thou hast made them to drink tears in large measure. (6) Thou dost make us an object of contention to our neighbors; and our enemies laugh among themselves. (7) O Elohim of hosts, restore us, and cause Thy face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. (8) Thou didst remove a vine from Egypt; Thou didst drive out the nations, and didst plant it. (9) Thou didst clear the ground before it, and it took deep root and filled the land. (10) The mountains were covered with its shadow; and the cedars of Elohim with its boughs. (11) It was sending out its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the River. (12) Why hast Thou broken down its hedges, so that all who pass that way pick its fruit? (13) A boar from the forest eats it away, and whatever moves in the field feeds on it. (14) O Elohim of hosts, turn again now, we beseech Thee; look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine. (15) Even the shoot which Thy right hand has planted, and on the son whom Thou hast strengthened for Thyself. (16) It is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of Thy countenance. (17) Let Thy hand be upon the man of Thy right hand, upon the son of man whom Thou didst make strong for Thyself. (18) Then we shall not turn back from Thee; revive us, and we will call upon Thy name. (19) O YHVH Elohim of hosts, restore us; cause Thy face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.’
We also pray Almighty heavenly Father that you will ensure that our Jewish Brothers will retain possession of the land of Israel also known as the Promised Land, but also that they will remain Torah observant until Messiah comes one day in the near future. We also pledge our support in the effort to wake members of both tribes up to the necessity to rebuild the Temple of Elohim, in preparation for Messiah’s imminent arrival. We pray that You will make Jerusalem a place of praise in the earth, and that you will give us the peace of Jerusalem. We also recite Psalm 126 in joy for the harvest of the sons of Israel from the nations where they were scattered, saying: ‘When YHVH brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream. (2) Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, “YHVH has done great things for them.” (3) YHVH has done great things for us; we are glad. (4) Restore our captivity, O YHVH, as the streams in the South. (5) Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. (6) He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.’ Baruch HaShem YHVH. Amein and Amein!
